Thallus thin to thick, slightly bullate, continuous to dispersed-verrucose or dispersed-granular, greenish white to yellowish grey, epruinose to slightly pruinose. Soredia absent. Prothallus not visible. Apothecia sessile when immature, becoming constricted at the base, 0.4–1.0 mm diam.; disc pale yellow to orange-brown, epruinose; margin concolorous with the thallus, thin, entire, ±verrucose to crenulate. Cortex hyaline, distinct, inspersed with small crystals, ±gelatinous, 20–25 µm thick laterally and 25–35 µm thick basally. Amphithecium with large and small crystals; small crystals rapidly soluble in KOH. Parathecium hyaline, with numerous small crystals insoluble in KOH, 10–15 µm thick. Epihymenium yellowish brown, c. 10–15 µm thick, with numerous small crystals (chlarotera-type); pigmentation rapidly soluble in KOH. Hymenium hyaline, 55–65 µm thick. Subhymenium hyaline. Hypothecium yellowish to yellowish brown. Paraphyses c. 2.0–2.5 µm wide, sparingly branched and slightly thickened apically. Ascospores ellipsoidal, 13.5–17.0 × 6.0–8.0 µm. CHEMISTRY: Thallus and apothecial margin K+ yellow, C–, Pd+ pale orange; containing atranorin (major), 2’-O-methylperlatolic acid (major), chloroatranorin (minor), 2’-O-methyl-stenosporic acid (minor) and unidentified terpenes.

This corticolous species is known from one locality in the Torres Strait, north-eastern Qld. It is rather common in Papua New Guinea.
